A's First Taste of Ice Cream

The other night R was eating an ice cream sandwich while holding A. She has proved that she truly is her mother's daughter because despite the fact that she was VERY tired (as you can see in the pictures) she soaked up every bit that R would give her.

She first just wanted the wrapper (I mean why play with flashy baby toys with tags, colors, noises, textures, when you can play with a plastic wrapper?) and I stood there thinking "Come on A don't you realize what you're missing!?! Ice cream is only THE best food in the world (besides my mom's famous meatballs of course)! It wasn't until she took her eyes off of her wrapper to see the ice cream, feel it and finally take that first bite that I knew that ice cream had won her over just as it does for me. It seems like we all do that in life in one way or another, don't you think? We see this seemingly great thing (whatever that is in our lives material or otherwise) and get so focused on that that we miss the true treasure that God really wants us to have once we finally give up our "wrapper." I can picture Him up there cheering us on "Just grab on and take a "bite" what I have for you is way better than what you're doing now!" Yes, I realize I'm comparing ice cream to the gifts that we receive from God but what can I say...I love ice cream! :)
