Happy Birthday Two Year Old M

One of my favorite bloggers takes the opportunity each year to write a letter on her blog to her children on their birthday.  I've decided to copy cat her idea on this blog as a keepsake of what each one was like at the different stages in their lives and as a gift to our kiddos as something to look back on.  My hope is these letters will bring them great love and joy as they do to us.

Princess M,

This year has brought many firsts for you.  First steps, first words, first foods.  Those chubby thighs and cheeks grow and grow as you chow down on pretty much anything we give you.  Well, except for sweets.  Your parents have such sweet tooths but you are blessed with the lack of desire for most things that are bad for you.  Lucky you!  You may just be the only munchkin that doesn't care for chocolate milk and cake.  You'll try just about any food once, especially if it's on your daddy's plate.

You love your daddy to pieces.  He brings out a laugh in you that no one else can.  You run to him when he comes home from work like there is no one else on earth you'd rather see and there is certainly no one else other than us ladies that he would rather see.  You love having daddy chase you and toss you in the air!  And as much as you love your daddy and gush all over him you are a mama's girl through and through.  If you could velcro yourself to my hip you surely would.  Sometimes your clinginess drives me bonkers but you and I both know I wouldn't want it any other way.

Three days a week I get a solid hour of M and Mommy time (courtesy of A's OT appointments).  I do look forward to the day the appointments are no longer but oh boy how I will miss that forced mommy daughter date every T, W & Th.

You can be shy when you first meet people but as soon as you warm up to them you'll be the first to lift up those arms for a hug.  Girl, you give the warmest most ooey gooey choc chip cookie hugs.  You also love to point out the clothes that you're wearing ("look at my sparkling shoes."  "look at my skirt." "look at my jacket.") to any stranger looking at you.

You are the girly girl in this household.  You love to sing and dance, play with dolls and animals and dress-up.  You absolutely adore your sister and love playing and singing together.  You regularly tell me that you are a princess.  You also have one killer imagination!!

The only other thing that is missing in you other than your sweet tooth is your tact for sharing.  There was a time that you would share so naturally but somewhere between 12 months and 18 months you grew some fierce and mighty spunk.  When you don't get what you want you tend to throw and hit.  Sigh.  This too shall pass.

And despite the throwing and hitting I still wish I could freeze you in time.  Please don't keep growing up so fast.  These two years have gone by way to quickly.  Slow down.  Keep those chubby thighs and cheeks and long snuggles and cuddles as long as you can.

Love,
Mommy
