M's Two Year Doctor Visit
At M's two year old check-up she weighed in at 28lbs 9oz and 35.75inches long. Our little tall princess is in the 90% for height and 75% for weight and 110% loved and adored.

Princesses, Rainbows & The Aquarium
I asked M what kind of cake she would like for her Birthday and she said "Princess and rainbow cake" so that is exactly what the birthday girl got! Our family tradition is to have cake after breakfast on our birthdays hence why we are in our jammies.
We took a trip to the Aquarium for M's Birthday. Of all the things to see and do there this step stool was the most thrilling part for her. I think she may have walked up and down it a gazillion times. I don't even think she noticed the little bright colored frogs in tank at her eye level. Oh, to find joy in the itty bitty things of life....like a step stool. :)

Nightime Sister Chats
After we put the girls to bed tonight we came downstairs and turned on the monitar. This is what I heard:
A praying to herself while M is repeating louder and louder sssshhhh SSShhhhh SSSHHHHH!!!!
M: Be quiet A.
A: But God is here M.
M: Be quiet A.
A: But God is right here with me.
M: Be quiet A.
A: Okay M. I will be quiet. God will sleep on the floor and I will sleep in my bed.
M: God is sleeping on the floor?
A: Yes, God is on the floor and I am in my bed.
Silence.

Happy Birthday Two Year Old M
One of my favorite bloggers takes the opportunity each year to write a letter on her blog to her children on their birthday. I've decided to copy cat her idea on this blog as a keepsake of what each one was like at the different stages in their lives and as a gift to our kiddos as something to look back on. My hope is these letters will bring them great love and joy as they do to us.
Princess M,
This year has brought many firsts for you. First steps, first words, first foods. Those chubby thighs and cheeks grow and grow as you chow down on pretty much anything we give you. Well, except for sweets. Your parents have such sweet tooths but you are blessed with the lack of desire for most things that are bad for you. Lucky you! You may just be the only munchkin that doesn't care for chocolate milk and cake. You'll try just about any food once, especially if it's on your daddy's plate.
You love your daddy to pieces. He brings out a laugh in you that no one else can. You run to him when he comes home from work like there is no one else on earth you'd rather see and there is certainly no one else other than us ladies that he would rather see. You love having daddy chase you and toss you in the air! And as much as you love your daddy and gush all over him you are a mama's girl through and through. If you could velcro yourself to my hip you surely would. Sometimes your clinginess drives me bonkers but you and I both know I wouldn't want it any other way.
Three days a week I get a solid hour of M and Mommy time (courtesy of A's OT appointments). I do look forward to the day the appointments are no longer but oh boy how I will miss that forced mommy daughter date every T, W & Th.
You can be shy when you first meet people but as soon as you warm up to them you'll be the first to lift up those arms for a hug. Girl, you give the warmest most ooey gooey choc chip cookie hugs. You also love to point out the clothes that you're wearing ("look at my sparkling shoes." "look at my skirt." "look at my jacket.") to any stranger looking at you.
You are the girly girl in this household. You love to sing and dance, play with dolls and animals and dress-up. You absolutely adore your sister and love playing and singing together. You regularly tell me that you are a princess. You also have one killer imagination!!
The only other thing that is missing in you other than your sweet tooth is your tact for sharing. There was a time that you would share so naturally but somewhere between 12 months and 18 months you grew some fierce and mighty spunk. When you don't get what you want you tend to throw and hit. Sigh. This too shall pass.
And despite the throwing and hitting I still wish I could freeze you in time. Please don't keep growing up so fast. These two years have gone by way to quickly. Slow down. Keep those chubby thighs and cheeks and long snuggles and cuddles as long as you can.
Love,
Mommy

The Long Lost Jackson 5 Sister
A decided that she wanted to brush her hair. This is our stylish afro three year old. She continued to brush it more and more throughout the day and it grew higher and higher. When she looked in the mirror it was clear that she was very proud of herself. We went out that evening with her afro and she rocked confidence with a capital C!
This is what M will look like in a couple of years. |

Florida Here We Come!!
The girls and I took what has become to be our annual trip to Florida this winter to visit my parents. We were super excited to see Grandma and Grandpa along with Aunt C, cousin P & B!
YAY!! We're on the plane!!!! |
First meal at the fun kids table. |
You wouldn't know it by this pic but M had lots of fun splashing in the pool! |
The view from the deck at my folks condo. You can't beat this view when you know snow is waiting for us at home. |
Movie Night for the kiddos while the adults eat dinner and watch some Super Bowl. |
We had a blast on our first visit to Jungle Island! It was so much fun petting, holding and feeding the animals I'm sure we'll be back next year!
Blowing bubbles at the monkeys. |
A 100-120 yr old tortious. |
A liger (a mix between a tiger and lion) |
The littlest ones were wiped out after a long day of fun....
A trip to Florida would not be complete without a trip to the ice cream shop!
My parents have 10 frames on their wall for all their grandkids to draw in each year we come. Here are the girls newest pieces of artwork.
A's drawing of our family. Maybe next year she'll be able to draw a picture of the five of us! |
The #1 reason leaving sunny Florida weather to come home to freezing cold is totally worth it....
