Over the past few weeks our adoption journey has made some great headway. U had many appointments that overall went well. He has one more important one coming up that we are super excited about and are very thankful was rescheduled without much delay at all. If the adoption band was lifted we would literally be in Congo at this very moment with U waiting for this one last appointment before he would come to the U.S. with us.
For an almost 20 month old U has had one busy week with some firsts. He took his first plane ride. He had his first medical exam. He met his new foster family for the first time. This will be the place he will call home until we come for him.
U left the orphanage that he has called home for the majority of his life and set off to a seemingly foreign world. New tribe, new language, new scenery, new food, new people, new everything. While this is a wonderful thing to know that we will now get more than one update every six months and that he will have more individualized attention, as a mom my heart is extremely heavy knowing that he was taken from what he would consider his family and home to a strange land that is all so new. A process to be repeated when he comes here.
We received our first of hopefully many emails yesterday from his foster mom. While we are still waiting for clarity with part of the email (we have to translate from French to English) we do know that he is eating a lot and adjusting well to his new home. He plays with the toys around the house. She also said he is very healthy. What sheer joy and relief an email like that brings to this mom!
